  1. The legacies of nineteenth century imperialism was Europe’s essential takeover of a lot of the world. Their government and ideas at this time with their properties paved the road for modern day influences like in government and land division. Anti colonialism was the opposition of one country’s colonial rule of another, which was seen among almost every country Britain tried to control. The positives were the influence on today’s countries, the negatives being less cultural difference as Europe stomped that out.

    • I agree completely with Molly because she has some very valid points, imperialism did pave the path for modern society which is very true

    • I agree imperialism paved way for the final decision on what countries own what territories and was the last time period of expansion.

    • I agree with your statement, Europe did want to takeover. There is much valid points are are mentioned here

    • I really like what you said about how the anti colonialism was the opposition of ones country. You made some excellent points regarding the topic .

    • I see the removal of cultural diversity from Europe as a shame but perhaps a positive one. Europe’s culture has proved itself to be very productive over the years while some other cultures have not. The culture introduced was negative in many forms, especially concerning racism at the time, but it came with its positives. The influence that culture, which has improved over the years, advances the world in many amazing ways and will hopefully continue to do so. It would be amazing to see the whole globe modernize and bring joy to one another in ways that are not currently possible. The world will continue to grow.

      • I agree with how you said that you hope to see whole globe modernize and bringing joy. And also how the removal of the diversity was a shame, It really was

      • I really like what you said about culture, I think that plays a key role in a cultural change in the nations that were colonized and the overall culture of Europe today is interesting as it is. You made a very good and interesting point.

      • I agree in that the influence that culture, which has improved over the years, advances the world in many amazing ways

    • I agree with you that Britain was a major player in imperialism. Which country do ou think was most influenced, China or India? I also agree that some culture was stomped out but there was also a cultural diffusion through the world including technology which in some ways destroyed tradition.

    • I agree with you in that their government and ideas at this time with their properties paved the road for modern day influences like in government and land division. Also on how the Anti-Colonialism was truly a way to succeed on Britains power on trying to rule everything,

    • I agree with Molly. She has valid points about imperialism and yow it paved the path for modern society.

    • I agree. I like how you mentioned it was Europe who had a vast majority of control during the time as well.

    • You have a lot of valid points. Europe was the main reason and they benefited the world a lot.

    • I completely agree because Britain did the most imperialism and anticolonialism is the opposition of imperialism.

    • I enjoyed the ways that the 19th century had impacted our modern government. The definition that you had brought up of anti-colonialism was well put too.

  2. Imperialism was the final era in history of conquer and expansion for nations with its legacy being the settling of the worlds countries as we know them today. For example the US acquired Alaska and Hawaii during imperialism and japan acquired okinawa.

    • I like how you referred to imperialism as the final era of conquer and expansion. I agree with your point that the legacy was it’s enforcement of today’s land and properties

  3. The imperialism permenently changed economic, social, and political traditions around the world, and created development. The anti colonialism is opposite of colonial rules and the movement towards the colonial rules. It does have negative effects on today’s world because it created internal and external problems with different countries and many blame it on imperialism. On the other hand, imperialism gave freedom and opportunity to improve their lifestyle.

    • I agree. European Imerialism caused many issues, but in the end, it allowed the citizens of these areas a way to better their ways of life, and get better education.

    • I agree with your statement that thanks to imperialism, many third-world nations were developed by industrious European nations and helped those regions be put on the map.

    • I liked how you emphasized that there is no turning back from the level of communication imperialism introduced to the world.

    • I agree. I really like how you mentioned the internal and external problems of today that came about because of imperialism. I also like how you mentioned how imperialism changed many traditions permanently around the world.

    • I like how you summarized the impacts of imperialism on a global scale. You connected the past and the present correctly and with relevancy, which is really good. I agree with your answer.

  4. The legacy of Europe’s Imerialism in the 19th c. Was Europe’s control and influence all over Asia and Africa. They showed the natives new technologies and gave them guns and ammunition that caused them to revolt, and overthrow their European conquerors. Anitcolonists resented the idea that a country could rule another country. Positives to European imerialism is the diffusion and syncretic beliefs and ways of life. The negatives were the amount of lives lost to control the land.

    • I completely agree with you. The spread of technology eventually backfired on Europe. I like how you mentioned the influence Europe had over other countries

    • I agree imperialism helped spread technology and culture to some less advanced civilizations. However, the British ruled over India with an iron fist causing many live to be lost to imperialism.

    • I agree with you, and I like how you mentioned ammunition to the technological advancements. Britain did play the main role in this outcome.

    • it is interesting that you put the syncretic beliefs and diffusion as the positive effects

    • I agree with what you said and I think you made some excellent points about the imperialism of eaurope.

    • I like how you mentioned the technological aspect because the weaponry influence was very important. I agree with all your points and thought your response was very thorough and true.

    • I completely agree. I really like how you mentioned how the natives were overthrowing, or at least attempting to overthrow, their European conquerors. It helps emphasize the feelings of the workers or lower classes towards imperialism. I also agree with how you mentioned the spread of syncretic beliefs. This spread helped bring countries together, but with this brings both positive and negative impacts.

    • I like how you said that imperialism legacy were based on European control over most of the world. I really agree with your positives and negatives of imperialism. I also liked how you said the anticolonist revolted when some other country tries to take them over

  5. The legacy of Imperialism was the control and influence that Europe had on Asia and Africa. They provided them with guns and ammunition which ultimately caused them to revolt. Anti-colonists was the idea that a country could in fact rule another country. Positives to this is the smooth running beliefs they had. The negatives was all the casualties due to this.

    • I agree that because imperialism, many riots and revolutions accused, which was a bad thing, but there was also a great exchange of cultures. For example, in some places of Africa, the residents still speak French.

    • I agree with you because of the riots that were aroused. But also, cultural exchange occurred around the same time.

  6. The legacy of imperialism was how Europe controlled a large portion of the world. Europe had a large influence on Asia and Africa. The positive impact was how others were influence but some negatives were little diversity of culture because of Europe’s dominance. Anti colonialism was seen in the places that Britain tried to control. Europe influenced modern societies with their ideas of government.

    • I agree with your statements above when you discuss how imperialism caused lack of diversity, and that is a negative effect. Anti colonialism indeed was seen in places Britain tried to control.

    • I like how you mentioned the lack of diversity that resulted from imperialism, because I think that the European countries whitewashed a lot of the countries that they went into. However, imperialism did kind of spread culture around in the sense that Europeans were exposed to richer cultures.

    • I agree that without European involvement and colonization many new ideas and governments could and would not have reached the colonized lands therefore changing the cultures in those lands through foreign influence.

  7. 19th century imperialism has many legacies including future nations and spheres of influence of European countries across the world. Though imperialism was popular, an ideology called anticolonialism also spread that believed countries should rule themselves. A negative of these two ideologies clashing was multiple revolts against the European nations. However, the territories that remained under imperial rule under went major industrialization including Africa, Asia, and Pacific Islands.

    • I agree with your statements when you said that a negative result of imperialism was many revolts. Many countries wanted to be the superior one. They tried to do anything to have power even if it hurt other countries or civilians.

    • I agree with you 100%. The revolts and riots were a horrible result of imperialism and it could have been taken care of a better way.

  8. In the 19th century, imperialism was spread through the industrial revolution and technological advancements. It provided a powerful military and faster as well as, a much innovative way of life. Anticolonialism was the idea of a country condoning for one’s self. Although there were several downfalls such as seasonal work and less manual labor for workers. Meaning many workers did not receive full income resulting in poverty among the civilizations. But it created an organized way of social, political, and economic views which lead to modern advancements and motives. Today it has circumferenced the way of the way government and positional stances.

  9. Throughout the nineteenth-century, imperialism had a great effect all over the world. Europe gained much control of land masses in places such as Asia or Africa. This imperialism brought around more communication as well as spread social and economic influences between countries. Anticolonialism can be defined as one country, or people, resenting the fact that another country can rule over them. They wished to rule themselves and not have larger countries come in and take over. Because of the actions of the nineteenth century imperialists, the world today has been impacted through social means and imperialism has brought about many advances in society. Imperialism, in a way, also brought us all closer together. Positives to imperialism could include more diffusion or diversity throughout the world. However, there are also negatives, such as problems between countries and a vast amount of rebellions to incoming Europeans.

    • I agree with you that the negatives are the rebellion, because after imperialism, there were multiple revolutions where a country tried to gain freedom.

    • I totally agree with you. Imperialism caused major synchronization throughout Asia and Africa. It brought Asia and Africa to the modern era.

    • I like how you mentioned the new communication technologies. This as well as military and transportation advances are what allowed Europe and the US to enact imperialism and colonialism.

    • I like how you expounded on the subject peoples thoughts about anticolonism and how important it was to them that they rule themselves, and have freedom.

    • I liked how you mentioned the rebellions in different countries because it shows how unhappy some of the people in non-European countries were, and how the Europeans took advantage of others.

    • I agree with you imperialism did take a mass effect on the lives back then and today. You made really great points about anticolonialism.

    • I agree with your answer of rebellions being a negative, although they were useful to some countries, it caused many deaths and resources to be used at the time.

    • I would have to disagree with your claim that imperialism brought “us all closer together.” Imperialism actually did the exact opposite. We can see this from multiple point of views. The first view is that imperialism tightened senses of nationalism, which eventually led to the breakout of WW1. Now I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t seem like bringing us all closer together. Also, imperialism embodied the European ideals of the white man being superior, which can be found in scientific racism, evolutionism, and the White Man’s Burden. These things have split us apart because it creates a deep social divide to the point where it can still be seen quite clearly today. And the worst part about it is that through the “alliances” and “peace treaties,” man has found yet another way to mask his own identify for the furthering of his own agenda, which is hidden underneath.

    • I like how you mentioned the growth of communication as this was an important factor. I also agree with your point on the fact that rebellions were a negative outcome.

  10. The world was impacted greatly by imperialism, because of it technological and military advancements were rapid throughout the world. The legacies of imperialism are the ties between countries, whereas before countries did not communicate with each other in an efficient manner. Imperialism also caused mass migration throughout the earth spreading diversity and creating new cultures. Imperialism also allowed small countries to gain power.Anti colonialism was the opposition of one country’s colonial rule of another, which can be seen time and time again with Britain in India, and Africa. The positives of Imperialism were the spread of technology, and natural resources, and the improvement in the efficiency of communication. The negatives of imperialism was the sudden need to compete for resources, and the thought of superiority above other countries which caused conflicts.

    • I liked how you said that imperialism spread all the advancements that were made in the lesser countries. I agree with your definition on anti colonialism and I agree with your positives and negatives to imperialism.

    • I like how you brought up a focus on countries and their economic power in the world because it encompasses the main goal of most imperialistic countries of the time period — a wish to be economically secure and strong. Your points and intelligent and display a great knowledge of the prompt.

    • I agree and also like how you mentioned about all of the imperialism and how they all contributed

    • `I like how like Luke, you discussed the communication between countries, describing how imperialism brought about the import improvement of communication between countries. I also agree with your points on the spread of technology and natural resources.

  11. The legacies of 19th century imperialism had a great global impact. Countries had become global contenders in the world by invading and taking over smaller countires. Technological and militaristic advancements were huge in the time period because the industrial revolution had become global. Anticolonialism is the opposition of allowing a country to colonize in another country. Imperialism was a way of spreading technological advancements, diffusing cultures, and militaristic growth. Some of the negatives to imperialism was the competition for resources, nationalism, and rebellions.

    • I agree with you with the negative and positive effects of imperialism. Countries are only focused on completion and being the best. This led to many rebellions of the time period. Imperialism also brought technological advancements that shaped society.

  12. The legacies of imperialism tightened the links between the world’s people. Imperial powers recruited labor forces to work on lands that increased trade and migration. Anti-colonialism is the resistance to the practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country. A positive effect of imperialism was that it gave people from different countries many positive opportunities to live a new improved lifestyle. A negative effect was that it led to strife between countries. Everyone wants to be better than everyone else not caring about the consequences.

    • I agree with you that the imperialism of this time caused lots of strife. This was because of the increased nationalism that countries gained during this time which justified their opression and conflict with other nations.

  13. Imperialism mainly started in Europe. Russia had a vast majority of Europe and Germany needed a way to get land in Europe. Most of the ways of government during this time period has been the default way of taking over countries, which is mainly without using war. Anticolonialism means the opposition of one country’s colonial rule over another. This was seen largely with Britain as they tried to control every country in Europe.

  14. There were several legacies of nineteenth-century imperialism. The people of the world became more intertwined. Also, countries became more involved in other countries affairs. Alliances between countries began forming. Culture and technology was also rapidly spread around the world. This also caused tension and rebellions between in countries. Anti-colonialism is the opposition to one country ruling over another. The world was shaped by imperialism by how we are today. For example, the United States is still technically involved in imperialism because of Puerto Rico which is still a territory not a state. It also sparked rebellion and eventually helped the beginning of World War I. The positive effects of imperialism is that it spread technology and weaponry across the world. Some negative effects were that there was a need to compete for resources, countries began uprisings, and nationalism.

    • I though that you made a fantastic response to what imperialism is and how it connects to society now. I liked how you made a statement about how alliances arose from imperialism in the nineteenth century, I believe it’s also important to acknowledge other negative effects- such as scientific racism- that resulted from major countries colonizing other countries.

    • You were clear about everything and I agree with you. Imperialism helped the world a lot and if it wasn’t for imperialism where would the world be today? Honestly I’m glad it happened because now we know how to communicate with people that can be a million miles away, of course technology today is more advanced but it was interesting that someone did think about communicating outside their country.

    • I like the points that you make on the legacies left by the imperialism happening during the nineteenth-century. I like the point that you make on how countries became more involved in in world wide politics and world affairs. I like how you word what anti-colonialism is. Lastly I like the impacts that you mention happen due to the imperialism happening during the nineteenth-century and the lasting effect that it has on the world today. Over all I like all of your points you answer the question throughly.

    • This is not to discredit your claim, but rather just a question your response made me think of. Sure, imperialism was effective in spreading technology. But weapons? Was that really a positve effect? Because as imperialism inspired nationalism, nationalism inspired a virtual arms race, which led to the advancement of even stronger weapons. Maybe this arms race is a contributor to the constant fear of nuclear war in which we live in today.

  15. The legacies left by imperialism is that most of Europe either ruled or influenced all parts off the world in one way or another. Anticolonialism is the opposite of colonialism which means an external nation ruling over another country or people. So then Anticolonialism is someone who is against a nation ruling over another nation. The world is shaped in many ways by the actions of the nineteenth century. One big thing that impacts us today was the colonization and annexation of different parts of Africa dividing it up based on external powers not the people. A positive to imperialism is that to creates more trade and productivity through new items and material from the new countries. Imperialism is still negative by creating problems inside of the nation and also striping the nation of all of its resources and leaving it with nothing.

    • I agree with your point that the imperalism of this time caused these modern internal conflicts due to Europe’s lack of consideration about the people and their focus on the land. Conflicts like those in the middle east can be tied to these decisions as seperate cultures were forced to join together and work as one even with highly conflicting ideas.

    • I agreed with how you said that most of Europe either controlled or influenced all of the world due to imperialism. I also agree with how you talked about the positive, how imperialism creates more trade and productivity.

  16. 19th century imperialism manifests itself in western supremacy and priority in the world. Europe was the prominent country in the world at the time because they took over many of the foreign countries that they considered as undeveloped and less than themselves. Anticolonialism was the opposition to European colonialism and invasion. They actively fought against the European forces who tried to colonize native lands. Imperialism grew nationalism for both sides, creating greater pride for one’s country that ccan manifest into stronger and more passionate armies. However, imperialism actively erased years of culture and history from many ethnic groups in Africa and other “underdeveloped” nations.

    • I like how you mentioned that all of the imperialistic countries were rebelled against as much as possible. Also do you think that nationalism was a positive effect or a negative effect because although it increased pride in one’s country it also sparked conflict. Also I like how you mentioned that imperialism erased some culture from places like Africa.

    • I agree when you said that imperialism erased many years of culture and history from ethnic groups.

  17. What were the legacies of nineteenth-century imperialism? What was anticolonialism? In what ways is the world shaped today by the actions of nineteenth-century imperialists? Was there any positives to imperialism? Any negatives?

The legacies of the nineteenth included but were not limited to weaponry, alliances, and nationalism

    • Anticolonialism was basically anti imperialism, which was not wanting to have one country own another

The world is shaped today by result of the nineteenth century was the alliances that were formed and the spread of culture, and weaponry

Positives were the spread of culture and negatives were nationalism, and stripping countries of all their resources, and death.

  18. Part-2 Accidently submitted

Anticolonialism was basically anti imperialism, which was not wanting to have one country own another

The world is shaped today by result of the nineteenth century was the alliances that were formed and the spread of culture, and weaponry

Positives were the spread of culture and negatives were nationalism, and stripping countries of all their resources, and death.

  19. The legacies of 19th century imperialism were the social, political, and economic changes to various countries by major nations.
Anticolonialism means being opposed to colonial rule of one country by another. Some positives of imperialism on the rest of the world are increase in agricultural products, it allowed a change to a better lifestyle to many, it also had the capacity to give people more rights. Though there were positives, negatives arose as well. The negatives were more the racism ideals that arose from it, meaning it led the idea of scientific racism- that human species consisted of biological race group. It also had a lasting effect on society as it transformed the overall production of crops and commodities.

    • I like how you mentioned the effect that agricultural products had on countries and the long term effects. I completely agree.

    • I like how you brought up scientific racism in your answer. I also like how you mentioned that the crops being spread helped people live a better lifestyle. Who do you think had the worst case of imperialism, India or China?

    • I agree what you said about about how imperialism gave people more rights and live a better lifestyle.

    • I like how you said that imperialism legacies were based on social, political, and economic. I really agree with your positives and negatives of imperialism. I also liked the definition you gave for anticolonialism

  20. Imperialism gave a huge impact around the globe and it had begun in Europe. There were much military and technological advancements during this time. Anti colonialism almost meant that it was against Europe’s need for invading or “anti imperialism”. There was a need to invade other territories and a negative towards this was that there was very little diversity.

    • I liked how you mentioned that there was a lot of military and technological advancements that came along with imperialism.

    • I agree with how you said that imperialism was a huge impact around the globe. There were many military and technological advancements during this time due to imperialism, and I also agree with how you said that there was very little diversity because of imperialism.

  21. The legacy of the 19th century was Europe’s control over most of the world. Europe influenced most of the world and introduced new technology, basically modernizing other countries. Anticolonialism was resistance to the outside imposition and being against the colonial rule of one country over another. Imperialism shaped the world into what it is today by introducing new ideas, cultures, and technology worldwide. A positive to imperialism was the spread of new ideas & technology. A negative would be stripping away other countries cultures and traditions

  22. Anti-colonialism is the opposition to colonialism and in some cases lead to rebellions and bloodshed. Like in 1857, when Sepoy fought against the English East India Company over unfair and harsh treatment form the English to the Indians. Eventually the rebellion started by Indian troops turned into a full-fledged war against British Rule. Another example of anti-colonialism is Ram Mohan Roy, who helped forge a sense of Indian identity and argued for the construction of a society based on both modern European science and the Indian tradition of devotional Hinduism. Other than the bloodshed from rebellion another negative to imperialism is the increasing ideals of racism, along with scientific racists and social Darwinists. A positive of imperialism is the tightened link between the world’s people, which lead to an increase in traded and migrations.

    • I agree and appreciate your examples of anti-colonialism efforts in history because they are important events that changed how countries worked and rose to power. You supplied many facts in your response, making it agreeable and well-thought out.

    • That was a great opposition to the little good that was caused by imperialism. You used great examples and I agree with both of your examples.

  23. There was several negatives and positives given through the act of the industrial revolution to imperialism. Much of what was innovated back then has reflected back onto how we live today. Without factories we could not be able to complete mass production or goods at a convince. Along with that it brought a lack of jobs because, the lack of need for labor work.

    • Because of the increase in availability of jobs, more people were able to obtain jobs which caused large migrations of people in Europe or Asia to come to different places like the Americas. This was a positive effect of colonization because more people were receiving more jobs but also a negative of this migration was the upbringing of scientific racism and social Darwinist.

  24. The legacies of imperialism in the 19th century is how it had changed economics, social, and political traditions permanently. It was changed economically with how humans had developed a new ‘relationship’ with the demand for natural resources to be traded on the global market. Politically it was altered with how old loyalties. Anticolonialism means being opposed to any type of colonialism or imperialism. Imperialism from the 19th century shaped the world today by introducing many new ideas, beliefs, and advance countries development. Some benefits were how imperialism gave countries the opportunity to advance themselves and really develop independently. Some cons were how countries were in demand for certain resources and kinda turned things into a competition.

  25. The imperialism in the 19th century help socially and economically, also with policies conditions. Humans being able to communicate change it economically because they developed a new relationship with people all over the world. Anti colonialism means being supposed to any type or thing of colonialism or imperialism. Imperialism helped the world a lot with introducing new beliefs, ideas and advance over all. Bad things that did happen was the constant demands for resources.

  26. The legacy of nineteenth-century imperialism has everything to do with Europe. The colonization of Europe brought many new technologies to new countries and built a relationship of people with the demand for natural resources. Anti-colonization was the opposition to colonization and the expansion of Europe. Imperialism shifted the world we have today in terms of where each country is and what land they occupy, however imperialism decreased the cultural differences from Europe and the rest of the world.

    • I really like the points that you make on the legacy of the nineteenth-century and on the imperialism that happened. I agree with your point on anti-colonization that it is just the opposite of colonization. Lastly I like your point on how the imperialism that happened in the nineteenth-century are affecting us and our cultures today.

  27. Imperialism left a mark across the entirety of the world especially in terms of influence. The cultural power that used to primarily lie in Asia has shifted to the West as countries spread their reach across the globe. Anticolonialism was a movement against the colonialism brought on by imperialism. It came with violence and a lasting culture in particular places. The change brought on by imperialists of the time changed how Europe viewed the rest of the world and the rest of the world looked back. People can be afflicted by abuse of power. Imperialism did positively spread technologies and business to certain regions bringing success but it came with its negatives. Exploitation ran rampant.

    • I like how you mentioned the effects of exploitation in your response. The previous history of Asian dominance in the world was also important to note and your answer provides an insightful look into this topic.

  28. The legacy of imperalism is the defined country borders of todays world. Anti-colonialism was the uprising of the controlled population against the foreign powers that controlled them. Todays world is shaped by this imperalism as the countries involved in these actions have largely become the leading world powers. It has also created a mimicry of these powers systems as the new forming governments had their model to follow. The benefits of this imperalism are the diffusion of modern ideas to other areas of the world. However, the negative side of it is the removal of many native cultures and traditions. As most countries that took after imperalism saw themselves as better than their territories, they wanted to remove of the cultures that they saw as less sophisticated.

  29. The ultimate legacy of 19th century imperialism was that it inspired a sense of nationalism between European nations that was driven by the competition to expand and conquer the most in the quickest amount of time. During eras of contemporary imperialism, such as the “Scramble for Africa” and unequal treaties in China and Asia, European nations asserted complete domain over other societies that lacked the same resources and technologies. However, while these Europeans were able to conquer others, they could not unify themselves. Therefore, tensions of nationalism build up to the point that in an effort to prove themselves better than one another, total war erupted in 1914, which later became known as the Great War.
Anticolonialism were revolts to colonial rule that was imposed by world powers. Indigenous peoples and countries that could not reap the benefits of imperialism conspired the movements to try and undermine the efforts of the world powers.
While imperialism has positive benefits for the countries that controlled it, it likewise had negative effects for those who were both the enforcers and victims. Economically, while the global economy received a surge from the influx of more natural resources to be used in industrialization, nations also became interdependent upon one another. Lands such as Africa were subjects to the control of other lands, forcing them to be dependent on the damaging presence of European imperialists. Along with economic effects, there were also social effects of modern imperialism. The most common effects were the large labor migrations and emergence of scientific racism and the “White Man’s Burden.” In terms of labor migrations, people went to new countries seeking employment, but they found that they had to form distinct communities in order to avoid discrimination. In terms of scientific racism and the “White Man’s Burden,” imperialists societies developed notions of themselves as the superior race and ideas that their efforts were justified by the fact that natural science laws destined them to conquer as they did.
As history repeats itself, modern imperialism showed once again how the nations with the most advanced technologies and more abundant resources were able to conquer those around them. We see the effects today in how the major world powers are industrial societies, while smaller countries that aren’t as powerful are behind and subject to the control of others.

    • I like the fact that you brought up scientific racism into your comment, and also the White Man’s Burden.

      • And I agree with you when you said that history repeats itself. This shows that the way of imperialism back then is also used now.

  30. Between European nations, nationalism was driven by the race to expansion and conquering of land. This was the effect imperialism had on the nations of Europe. Today we show signs of imperialism by the poor ruling of our very own president trump. What a man.

  31. Imperialism was designed to conquer and control other countries. Most of which were once apart of Asia. The anti colonialism was a series of revolts against colonial rule.Imperialism had little to no positive outcomes because it ultimately created tension which would lead to the First World War in 1914.

  32. I agree with you,Mikaela in that nationalism was driven by the expansion of imperialism.Without imperialism there would be no such thing in the believe that people are more superior than others.

  33. The legacy of imperialism shows itself in the borders of countries and the culture of nations affected by imperialism. England, Japan, France, and the U.S. pushed aspects of their culture onto countries like India, Africa and the Philippines. Anti-colonialism is defined as the opposition to colonial rule of one country by another, or opposing or resisting colonialism. Benefits of imperialism include a diffusion of culture in the world and in diplomatic relations in some places; countries had to get delegates (as they did during the scramble for Africa) to figure out how to divide land. The negatives include the mistreatment of people native to imperialized lands and the whitewashing of history and cultural, as well as they perpetuating of concepts such as scientific racism.

  34. Imperialism is the expansion in power. This can be seen all through history and with this it allows for many areas to have many problems with one another. The expansion of the power is often the starter of wars.

    • Along with this nationalism is brought on by how much power you have. As it is fed with how big the country is and how much power everyone has.

  35. Nineteenth century imperialism brought so many positives such as economic growth, improved education and healthcare, etc. But with that also came many negatives, for example, native people lost control of their land, it destroyed families and culture, slavery, increased local warfare, current political unrest, etc. Social causes from imperialism were the missionaries spreading Christianity, social Darwinism; the spread of racism/cultural superiority; white man’s burden

  36. There were several legacies of Imperialism. Imperialism was the ultimate control and had a vast influence that Europe had over Asia and Africa. They provided them with supplies that ultimately caused them to revolt. There were positives that occurred, which was the fact that their beliefs never changed. The negatives were all of the casualties due to this.

  37. The legacies of nineteenth century imperialism was Europe’s essential takeover of a lot of the world.
