  1. There were monarchies, tyrannies, and democracy. Democracy is the best because most people can choose who they want to lead them and they will probably be better than a king because he makes decisions alone. A monarchy is the worst because it is chosen by family and a lot of the time the king will be bad and there is nothing you can do about it. A king is the only person who can choose tro do anything and he might make the wrong decision because h is the only one choosing.

    • I agree that the best type of government was a democracy. It certainly furthered societal satisfaction and was more reliable and better for the civilians since they were elected by the civilians/people themselves.

    • I think that you are wrong, because democracies are not efficient with larger populations due to half the population having to agree. I disagree on which one is the worst too. I believe that it is the democracy due to efficiency. You can solve the monarchy problem, by the ruler having advisers.

      • That is true , however the adrives are in it for themselves and don’t really care about people opinion with limit people choice in government , with democracy the people have that choice, they don’t have to put their trust into elite class that only care about power

    • I agree that monarchies are a bad form of government because it is simply given to a person because they are air to the thrown and live greatly an aren’t quite aware of the people’s needs. The king or queens just want things for themselves and not others, which will effect the government poorly.

    • I completely agree with you Jake. Monarchies are definitely the worst and democracies are definitely the best. Democracy allows for all people to be involved in the politics and laws of their countries. Monarchies does not allow people to have an opinion and the only way to come to power is to be born into it, which logically makes absolutely no sense.

    • I agree with you that democracy was better than a monarchy because with democracy you can vote for who you want to lead.

    • I agree that monarchy was the worse because the only person expressed was the king which created many revolts. Allowing everyone to voice their opinion is the most efficient way of running a successful government.

  2. The best form of government in Greece was the democracy. Despite having some backfires, Greece was the first civilization to enact the process of voting for your leaders, they also allowed almost everyone to partake in voting. It was extremely influential, and has spread to most of the world today. The worst form of government found in these civilizations was a tyranny. Not all tyrannies have to be oppressive, however most of the time they were cruel rulers who seized power unconstitutionally or inherited it.

    • I agree with your thoughts on the worst and best governments of these 2 civilizations such as democracy being the best and Tyrannies being the worst because one let most of the people decide and have their choice in leadership roles and the other was sometimes oppressive and didn’t give the people a choice in their actions.

      • I agree. Democracies seem to be better for the people and less destructive than tyrannies or monarchies. Tyrants were definitely the worst type of government due to the occasional cruelty being incurred under their rule. Democracies at least gave the people a choice.

    • I agree that democracy was the best because the people got to vot fora leader unlike a tyranny or monarchy where anyone can be the leader. It was also good because there were multiple people having input for war.

    • Likewise I believe Tyranny has the most potential to be oppressive while democracy was the best I do however feel that the Roman Republic has the most effective form of it not Greece (though they were the first to implement it).

    • I feel that Tyranny kind of gets a bad rap while it was not the best form of government many rulers produced great economic evolution with public works, roads, and other benefits actually I think that monarchy may have led to the same level of oppression

    • I think that you are wrong, because democracies are not efficient with larger populations due to half the population having to agree. I disagree on which one is the worst too. I believe that it is the democracy due to efficiency. You can solve the monarchy problem of only one person making decisions, by the ruler having advisers.

    • I agree that democracy was the best government used by Greece and Rome. It made citizens happy and it also boosted Greece and Rome to becoming a more modern society.

    • I agree that democracy is a good way to rule because of how inclusive it is. The Greeks paved the way of most governments in current society. Democracy has been improved throughout the years and is now a successful way to rule and is long lasting

  3. The best form of government found in Greece and Rome was a Democracy because nearly everyone was allowed to vote and you were able to choose a person that best fit your ideals on how you wanted a leader top be. The worst form of government in these civilizations was tyrannies. Tyrannies were not chosen by the people it was a ruler that forced his power on others and most of the time oppressed the people not giving them a voice in what they wanted.

    • I agree with both of your views, as Greek tyrants were capable of being extremely cruel and ruthless towards their subjects. The democracy was a huge step towards a more equal and just government.

    • I agree that democracy was a good government because it depended on the people’s decisions. I also agree that Tyranny wasn’t so good due to its inhuman treatment of the people.

      • Although tyranny was not inherently bad as you put it I do agree that democracy was an all in all more effective form of ruling

    • I agree that democracy was the best form of government used by Greece and Rome. Since people could vote for what they wanted they would usually be happy and work to keep the government ruling.

    • I agree with you Terrell. Although I think that monarchies are the worst, tyrannies are also not good as well. Democracy gives everybody a chance to express their opinion in the decisions made by their government and also be involved in what happens where they live. This clearly shows that democracy is the best form of government

    • I agree with your claim. Democracy did give each citizen a chance to have a say in politics, which improved the society immensely. The Greek tyrannies were not as efficient with their brutal behavior towards the people.

  4. In Greece and Rome there wasn’t a best or a worst government, every government had their ups and downs. A Monarchy was the most effective with the right leader. In a Monarchy the leader was able to get a lot done and rule with an iron fist. Unlike other governments the civilization was well defended from invasions. On the other side a Democratic government was the most humane and best for the people. The people were able to solve their issues together and their civilization would depend on what majority of the people wanted.

  5. I feel that of the three the greatest was democracy the section of politics that had it the most together was the Roman Republic despite not having equal rights they allowed for several people to vote despite social class which helped them to stay united as a whole unlike the priestly class dominance of previous societies this was one of the most influential factors that allowed Rome to become one of the most dominant empires

    • I also believe that in this time period, democracy was the best way to rule. I think oligarchies and monarchies are most likely to fail as forms of government because you never know who you are going to get with monarchies and oligarchies always seem to fall apart (neither Caesar’s nor Augustus’ triumvirates were not successful.)

  6. In my opinion Greece and Rome and one of the best forms of government. Greece and Rome was a democracy and this allowed people to basically vote for the leader that they wanted. The worst form of government were tyrannies. Tyrannies were the worst form of government because they had enforced rules for people to follow and the people didn’t get to choose the type of leader that they had wanted. Another form of government that wasn’t the best were monarchies because they also enforced rules that all the people had always follow and it didn’t allow them to have a choice in their type of leader either.

    • I completely agree that democracy was the superior form of government, but Greece and Rome also went through times with tyranny style governments. In times of war, it was helpful to have one elected leader instead of a group of people making every decision.

  7. The three types of government were monarchies, tyrannies, and democracies. The best type was a democracy as it allowed the people. The worst were probably tyrannies as these rulers were forcibly given power to rule. Many didn’t even want the responsibility, making their decisions more careless than that of a monarchy or an elected ruler. Additionally, some tyrants were cruel to the people.

    • I agree with your opinions on democracy and tyrannies. A democratic society proved to be most efficient and effective. The ruler was elected and it allowed the people to have a say in their ruler. In a tyranny, the people had no say. Tyrannies also had cruel punishments and decreased the success of society.

    • I agree with democracy being the best and tyrannies being the worst because a democracy lets someone have a voice and tyrannies were only in it because they were forced into it. However, monarchy’s are somewhat similar to tyrannies with the fact that they could be careless with their decisions.

  8. The three forms of government were democracies, monarchies, and tyrannies. In my opinion democracy had the most impact and proved the most success. In a democratic society the leaders are selected from voting of the people. It was a much more civilized, and satisfactory way to elect a leader. In addition, it led to the development of democracy in other early civilizations. Tyrannies were the worst form of government. In a tyranny there was more conflict and cruel ruling, where one ruler had immense control over society. It was not as effective as the freedom of vote in democracy and it caused more conflict.

    • While I do agree that tyrannies were almost certainly the worst system of government your point made about how they could be cruel is only partially true. While a ruler could wield absolute power the decision to do so was only considered if the state was hung-up on coming to a consensus so in a way they could be helpful there. However there are of course rulers that will abuse the system and power given to them.

  9. The empire was the best because it was the most efficient, because they did not need to agree on the laws because one man made them. The worst one was the democracy because they needed to convince half of the voting population not making it very efficient.

  10. The three forms of government to be found in classical Greece and Rome were direct/representative democracies, monarchies, and tyrannies. In my opinion democracies were the best of them all as they had a lasting impact on modern governmental systems. We still practice democracies to this day and they are a system which allows for the input of the people in making decisions. Tyrannies were the worst system introduced as although they could be beneficial during times of indecisiveness a ruler could easily hold onto power if they chose to.

    • I like your view of how their government’s affected modern day, but you need to consider how a Democracy impacted the people of that time as well. Many people didn’t even have the chance to vote, and the Greek version of a Democracy could probably have been compared to an oligarchy.

    • Well Michael, you are right about how direct democracy can allow for the people to give an input into their society and how it still impacts government to this day. However, have you ever thought about how this freedom of popular sovereignty could cause devastation? This right was only given to those who were a free man. Meaning that only a fraction of the entire population was voting upon the future of the many. Therefore, not everyone did agree upon whatever decision that was made. That being said, is democracy still the best?

  11. Out of the three main forms of Greek and Roman government, Democracy was the best in my opinion. Democracy gave the highest amount of the population a say in government, and since a large group of people was running it, it reduced the chance of any rash decisions being made. Tyrannies were most likely the least effective, because the entire area was governed by the decisions and whims of one person. Once the ruler died, chaos often ensued.

    • I entirely agree with you Grace about how tyrannies are not the best form of government. They always end up in some way or form of chaos. Maybe it was because the leader died or maybe there was a coup (Julius Caesar). Regardless, tyrannies is just a type of government that is doomed to end in anarchy.

      • Grace, I agree with your opinions on democracy and tyrannies. The downfall of a ruler of a tyranny often led to chaos, or the downfall of the whole civilization. The necessity for imperial succession was immense. Democracies were much more civilized, where another leader could be voted into the position if the current one died. Direct democracy also had a more influential impact on the development of later civilizations.

    • I agree with your opinion on Democracies being the best form of government and Tyrannies being the worst. Democracies seem more efficient in getting jobs done because they have multiple people in charge making decisions, not just one like Tyrannies.

    • Ii agree that giving the power to people is a good idea, but I believe that elected representitives is better than direct voting on all laws and issues. This because it’s less work for us and educated individuals working for the government is better than us who might not know as much

  12. There were three different types of governments during both Greece and Rome; they are democracy, monarchy, and oligarchy. All three were extraordinarily helpful in supporting the order of the country in some way or form. However, the best form of government was by far an oligarchy. Although, this may come as a surprise to many, this type of institution was surprisingly the most beneficial for the well-being of the state. Oligarchies divided the political powers of the state ruler into multiple different people. Hence, this kind of practice establishes a miniature form of a checks and balances. Similarly to what we have here in our current government today. Thus, preventing the formation of a single ruler to seize control and abuse their political power. On the other hand, Democracy was the most ineffective form of government for Greece and Rome. This is because when one allows for others to participate in direct democracy, unfathomable events occur. For instance in Ancient Greece, the people voted for reckless military decisions that would only help boost personal gain. Which eventually caused the demise of their own city-state because they voted for perilous military decisions. Nonetheless, oligarchies can be clearly seen as the most useful and efficient form of government in Greece and Rome.

  13. The best type of government in the Mediterranean Peninsula, in my opinion, was the democracy. The democracy allows anyone who is a citizen and not a woman, child or slave, vote. Unfortunately, women could not vote in any form of government at this time so it would not have mattered to them as much as it would have affected men. The worst form of government was the monarchy. Monarchies were the most unfavorable due to those in the area having absolutely no idea how whoever is next in line is going to rule.

  14. The 3 forms of government weremonarchies, tyrannies, and democracies. Personally, I think democracy was the best kind of government because it allowed people to have a voice and vote. I also think that tyrannies had the worst government because they forced rulers into their positions due to their families.

    • I believe that the most effective and successful government is the Roman republic. This because they conquered the largest amount of territory before overturning to an empire. They also had a sound government hearing the people’s word who voted in senators. Two consuls for the fact that no one man has too much power.

  15. Three forms of government in Rome and Greece were democracy, oligarchy, and tyranny. The best form of government in my opinion was oligarchies. Oligarchies were a better way to rule because it had different people from all the area discuss what’s best as a whole, which allowed for different options to be viewed. The worst is tyranny because although it was helpful to the Romans at first, it then lead to more harsh rulers and overall the fall of Roman Empire.

  16. There are three types of government including democracies, tyrannies, and monarchies. In my opinion, the best form of government was democracy. This enabled the people to vote and have a valued voice. The worst form of government was monarchy. This is because in a monarchy you get lucky by being born into it and it could be troubling if the ruler that had been born into the monarchy had been troublesome.

  17. The best government Rome and Greece implemented was democracy. Since the citizens of a society could vote for how the government ruled people would get what they wanted. This would help a society last longer because the citizens of the society wouldn’t want to overthrow it to create a better one.

    • I agree with you that democracy was the best form of government, but I disagree with your choice of the worst type of government. I think that it was tyranny, which was different from what you chose.

  18. The three types of government were democracy, monarchy and oligarchy. The best form of government in Greece and Rome was definitely democracy. Democracy allowed for multiple people to vote on their own opinions and have a say in what happened throughout their country. Although many were still left out of this voting, democracy was still the most advanced form of government used. The worst form of government was monarchy because the people had no say in anything that happened in their country. All leaders were based solely on if they were born into the royal family and this is just unethical and unfair to all people. The leader could be disastrous and the people would be able to do absolutely nothing about it.

  19. I think democracy was the best because it gave the people a say in what is happening in their society. The worst was monarchies. This is because the people had no say what would happen to them and their society.

    • I agree. Democracy was the best for many reasons, like having a say in what was happening in their society, as well as not effecting the society when leaders change, where as in a monarchy, a change in ruler can effect a lot more, and preventing as much conflict with others because the people have a say in what happens.

  20. Out of a democracy, a tyranny and a oligarchy, the most beneficial government has to be a democracy. The reason why is because, in a democracy each person is allowed to have a perspective on what they think is best. The worst government has to be a tyranny. The way the Greeks treated the people was awful and it did not help achieve the goal of having a working government.

    • I agree that tyranny was one of the worse governments because the people were not treated fairly and had no say what was going on.

  21. The three forms of government were monarchies, direct democracies, and oligarchies. In my opinion, the best was democracy, because more people had a choice in government. The worst was monarchies because only one person controlled the entire empire.

    • I disagree because the tyranny let only one person control the government but the tyrant could not be persuaded when it came to political issues.

  22. There were three types of government in Greece; direct democracy, monarchy, and tyranny. The best form of government in Greece is the direct democracy because it allows for the most amount of normal, working class citizens to have an impact on the decisions that the government makes. The worst form of government in Greece is the tyranny because there is only one person ruling the entire country, which mutes the public opinion completely.

  23. Out of the three forms of government, Democracy was the best for the Greeks and Romans. I think this because having a Democracy included civilians, they had a say in their government. Also having multiple people in charge lessened the chance of an extremely bad decision. In my opinion Tyrannies were the worst form of government. They were not as affective as a Democracy because they only had one person running it.

  24. There were many forms of government in the Mediterranean some of these governments were democracies, monarchies and dictatorships. I beleive the best form of government was direct democracy. This form of government was most notably used in Athens, Greece. It was the best form of government because everyone eligible to vote got to have their opinions heard. I beleive the worst form of government was monarchies because the rulers was pretty clueless to the hardships of working class. Well in a direct democracy anyone eligible to vote had a voice to state what need to be done or fixed

    • I agree that direct democracy was a good form and monarchy’s were significantly worse because it closed off the opinions/ needs of lower classes.

    • I agree with your answer because democracy allows for a majority of voices to be heard, allowing for a more united civilization.

  25. I believe that the most effective and successful government is the Roman republic. This because they conquered the largest amount of territory before overturning to an empire. They also had a sound government hearing the people’s word who voted in senators. Two consuls for the fact that no one man has too much power.

  26. Democracy was the best form of government because it allowed people to chose who represented their wants and need vs monarchy, the worst government, where the ruler mostly represents their own opinion and wants.

  27. Democracy was the best government for Greece since the people are allowed for vote on ayhing and have opinions on topic that effecting their life, it also didn’t really on government officials to be forced into office , but rather elected into make people choose their own candidates for their government. Dictatorship was the worst government because most of the desicons that the leader made was focus on his beliefs and not of the people. Dictator also can effect the entire civilization based on he leader goal to stay in power

  28. Out of monarchies, tyrannies and demoncracy, democracy is the best. Democracy represents the people the most, and requires a lot of participation from everyone. Democratic governments usually last the longest because everyone is satisfies with their role, which is crucial for a civilazation to last long.

  29. The worst form of government was monarchy because the king does not care for the people, rather himself. This creates lots of poverty and unsatisfaction in the empire. Which is the main cause of ending empires.
