You will find a web search dealing with the Cold War. The focus of this is Soviet Union and the United States. There are 28 questions. This assignment is due at the end of the class period in which it was assigned. You may work with one other person if you want.
Here are three readings from the Cold War and Beyond. First up is the Marshall Plan. This was the United States trying to rebuild Europe. Next reading is the Warsaw Pact. This is the Soviets response to NATO. And lastly a reading by Albert Camus. This illustrates some of the new philosophies that started to take shape after WWII.
Why did Marshall suggest such a sweeping measure of economic support?
What advantages would the United States gain from the realization of the Marshall Plan?
What connection was there between the Marshall Plan, the Truman Doctrine, and the Cold War?

What reasons did the parties to the Warsaw Pact five for the formation of a military alliance?
What were the essential terms of the treaty, and in what ways did it reflect the Cold War ideological between the East and West?
Albert Camus: The Rebel
What values or purposes did he see in the penchant of each individual to rebel against society?
In view of Camus’ assertion that “the twentieth century revolution…is first of all a politics and an ideology,” why did he insist that concentration upon politics and ideologies was futile and unrealistic?
Answer the above questions in complete sentences and turn in via hard copy at the end of class on the prescribed day given by the instructor.
There will be five groups, one for each section in chapter 30. The groups will be assigned. Each group will create a summary of their section. The summary should include and leaders, any revolutions, any advancements in technology, any movement in colonization or decolonization.
The options for the summary are, but not limited to, Podcast, Prezi, Blog, iMovie, to name a few. Please avoid a PowerPoint. This will be due at the end of the hour in which it was assigned.
