Mountain Pointe High School, the social studies department and the teacher have established goals that will aid in the success of the student.

Social Studies Department Goals
Writing: 2 Essays (1 of which is DBQ) in every semester class. Writing will be tied to Common Core Standards
Reading: 10 outside readings for the class. What is done with the Readings will be tied to Common Core Standards
Math: Students will be able to interpret, represent, and summarize a graph or chart
Technology: Students will be exposed to technology or new forms of technology at least 10 times throughout the semester.
Staff Development: Each teacher will attend a workshop, training, etc and will share and collaborate with the Department.
AP US Government and Politics Goals
By the end of the course, 85% of the students will be able to produce clear and coherent writing in which the development is organized.
Students will be able to draw inferences from the text with 85% accuracy.
By the end of the course, 85% of the students will be able to draw inference from a graph.
85% of the students taking the AP Exam will score a 3 or higher.
